Café 18g sits quietly on 14 Avenue SE, offering a calm retreat for anyone looking to slow down with a well-crafted coffee or a casual bite. This is very much a neighbourhood spot where the pace feels unhurried, making it a popular stop for people who want to relax, work, or catch up without the usual café hustle.

Inside, the atmosphere leans toward cozy and understated, with a layout that includes a calm dining space upstairs. The seating arrangement encourages lingering over a book or laptop, helped along by reliable free WiFi and the soothing hum of light conversation. It’s a place where locals might come midday to escape the busy stretches of Calgary’s day-to-day, or settle in during quieter mornings with a warm chai latte or an iced matcha latte to brighten the start.

The menu’s lineup is both approachable and thoughtfully curated, with a spotlight on their croffles — a creative twist on waffles and croissants — offered in options like cinnamon, salted caramel, or with a brownie or marshmallow topping. These pair naturally with various tea blends and non-coffee drinks like their matcha and chai lattes, both hot and iced, catering to those who want something beyond the standard espresso. Prices are reasonable, making it viable to return often without breaking the bank.

The staff come across as genuinely welcoming and attentive, enhancing the feeling that this is a spot run by people who care about their community’s café culture. Whether stopping by for a quick coffee, enjoying a light meal like the bagel sandwich, or settling in for a relaxed afternoon, visitors find an atmosphere that’s low-key but warmly curated.

Overall, Café 18g works well for solo visitors looking to work quietly or chat casually with friends, as well as anyone seeking a clean, well-kept environment where coffee and comfort meet. Its location on 14 Avenue places it conveniently for neighbourhood dwellers and those exploring that part of Calgary, especially on calm weekdays or relaxed weekend mornings.

Café 18gram is an absolute gem! The atmosphere was fantastic – relaxed and welcoming. The staff were very friendly and provided quick, attentive service. The food and coffee were both top quality, and their croffles are a must-try! I also appreciated the free Wi-Fi, which made it a perfect spot to relax and catch up on a few things while enjoying my coffee. Highly recommend this café to anyone looking for great food, excellent coffee, and a warm, inviting vibe.

Simplicity is the soul of luxury. I was in Calgary setting up our booth for the Grape Escape event at the BMO Centre. A lot had happened that day, and by the time everything was finished, it was around 2:00 PM—I hadn’t eaten anything since the morning. I stepped outside into the windy, blurry snow, walked along the street, and noticed a poster in the window of Café 18g showing five rice dishes. It caught my attention immediately. I decided to give it a try—and I’m glad I did. The moment I walked in, I felt the warmth of a true family-run business. I ordered an Americano and the Chicken K-Rice dish. Oh Mother of Nature… so simple, so fresh, and so satisfying. The attention to detail in something that looks so simple is what makes it special. Even the pricing is friendly, which adds to the charm of the place. The Americano wasn’t just "another Americano"—it was actually one of the best I’ve had in a long time. And the rice dish was honestly delicious. A great little spot, especially on a cold day. Highly recommend!

Just a great spot all around, the upstairs is nice for studying, and she asked us to taste the poke bowl (amazing btw) and my pretty got the rice salmon bowl, she literally teared up over the food and service.

I am shocked the owner set their tip rate as only 3%! Their iced americano is good, just pure korea style. But the tip rate is the best I have ever see. The owner said he doesn't like how Canadian restaurants get a high default tip rate, I totally feel the same. I will come again next time.
